Consumers placed a lower priority over the last three months on ecologically friendly purchases, according to the latest in an ongoing survey by GreenBiz.com. The Green Confidence Index, which is updated quarterly, now stands at 101.4, calibrated from a baseline of 100 in July 2009. The current standing is a drop from a high of 106.5 as recently as April. The index, which is conducted online with about 2,500 Americans, measures, among other things, the adequacy of information available to them to make informed decisions, and their past and future purchases of green products. The survey asked for the names of companies that respondents perceived as especially “green”; results included PepsiCo and Whole Foods.
