In January 2012, the Paperboard Packaging Council achieved their goal of issuing 35 licenses to converters in 2011 for using the “Paperboard Packaging Recyclable” logo. Of the 35 licensees, 27 are PPC members.

“We’re delighted that we achieved our goal,” says Ben Markens, PPC president. “The recyclable logo is one of the few ways a brand owner can alert consumers to the recyclable nature of paperboard packaging so it is vital that brand-owners begin printing it on their cartons.”

This industry-standard recyclable logo is designed to be printed directly onto paperboard packaging as a clear and concise way to remind consumers to “do the right thing” by properly disposing of packaging waste in curbside recycling bins after use. PPC has made available the registered trademark logo to all packaging companies free of charge.

“Converters should note that the more visible the logo is on a package, the more that eco-conscious consumers will purchase a product BECAUSE it is packaged in paperboard,” explains Kim Guarnaccia, Director of Marketing and Communications at PPC.
