Powered by Hewlett-Packard technology, the TJ500 thermal ink jet (TIJ) printhead sells for $895 (base price). For high-resolution one- and two-line industrial coding/marking applications, the TJ500 uses an easy-to-change disposable ink cartridge for quick start-up and changeover. Other features include 300 dots per inch resolution (vertical and horizontal); print speeds up to 200 feet per minute; channel purge at the printhead; industrial DB-9 serial connection; and Smart Level Ink Detection System, which signals “ink low” and “ink out” cartridge status.
