In time for the summer salad and barbecue season, consumers will find Marzetti Original Slaw Dressing packaged in a lighter polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottle with a fresh new label.

“Based on consumer feedback, we replaced the traditional glass bottle with a new plastic bottle, making it perfect for summer traveling and picnics,” says Brandy Wardlow of Marzetti Specialty Brands, Columbus, Ohio.

The unidentified container supplier created a shape that resembled the glass container. Wardlow claims that the PET bottle offers the following advantages:
  • Better display options, including in the shipper.
  • If dropped, the bottle won't break.
  • Is fully recyclable.
  • Offers a freshness seal.
  •  The glass bottle used a polymer neckband for product safety, the new plastic bottle uses an induction seal for product protection and tamper evidence.

The new label design was handled by The Chesapeake Group under the direction that the label design was to represent an evolutionary change. The design firm kept the equity of the previous label design elements, but with a refreshed, contemporary look.

The package size and product pricing remain the same, according to the company.
