Glass Composite Packaging (GCP) is developed for soft drinks and beer in response to growing consumer demand for convenience containers. The GCP bottles were bulb-shaped containers permanently set in pre-printed polyethylene bases; these acted as insulators, coasters and bumper guards on the filling lines. Lightweight but strong, the bottles have a wide mouth and a tumbler-like lip for easy drinking.

The Plasti-Shield bottle is named "Package of the Year" in a packaging industry competition and scores equally as well with consumers by doubling in sales the following year.
