Glass packaging for a super-premium “barrel-aged” version of Sam Adams beer uses a barrel motif. Sam Adams Barrel Room Collection from Boston Beer Co. comes in black glass bottles from Anchor Glass Container Corp. The bottles widen toward the base and feature horizontal ridges that call to mind a barrel’s staves. Other premium touches include an embossed cartouche in the shoulder, the Sam Adams signature debossed in the heel, and a champagne-style cork with wire bale. The bottle won the Overall Package Design award in the Glass Packaging Institute’s Clear Choice Awards.
