Avery Dennison launches online designer showcase

Showcase features advice from leading design firms.

Avery Dennison launches designer showcase of new tips and ideasThe label and packaging materials division of Avery Dennison Corporation (www.averydennison.com) launches a global Designer Showcase featuring insights, examples and personal stories about packaging and design from some of the world’s leading designers and design school students.

“Designers visiting the Designer Showcase will discover packaging tips and new materials that can enhance their label designs and increase their impact on customers,” says Jon Maley, global vice president of marketing, label and packaging materials. “The new site reflects Avery Dennison’s belief that designers and design firms deeply influence the way consumers think about and experience brands.

“Avery Dennison already plays a role in the design ecosystem—from design student, to design agency, to manufacturing to shelf and finally to home. With the Designer Showcase, we can increasingly leverage designer creativity with our own sophisticated technical expertise to bring great packaging designs to market.”

Each month a different designer, design firm and set of students will be showcased on the site. The Designer Showcase launches with Debbie Millman, author, president emeritus, AIGA, chair, MPS branding department at the School of Visual Arts, Cooper Hewitt National Design Award winner, and president of design, Sterling Brands. The first highlighted school is the School of Visual Arts in New York City. The 2013 lineup also includes:

  • Dale Doyle, Landor
  • Kristin Heist, Continuum
  • Kit Hinrichs, Studio Hinrichs
  • Abby Barlow, Barlow Doherty Creative
  • Tim James, Anthem Worldwide
  • Darralyn Rieth, Kimberly Clark
  • Kevin Thio, Yellow Octopus
  • Rob Wallace, and Stan Church, Wallace Church
  • Jim Warner, Kaleidescope

“The Avery Dennison Designer Showcase explores the ‘unfiltered’ back stories, insights, technical challenges and the questions that emerge around labeling and packaging,” says Judy Abelman, vice president of communications, label and packaging materials. “We partner with many designers today on innovation in packaging and have always been honored to enable great design. Now we want to showcase it.”
