Last year, Bradman Lake Group (www.bradmanlake.com) celebrated 20 years in North America. In 1992 the company, which started in the United Kingdom in 1948, expanded into the United States.
This is another major step among many over the past decades for the Bradman Lake Group, which is a wholly owned, privately held subsidiary of the multidiscipline global UK engineering group, Langley Holdings plc. (www.langleyholdings.com). It is composed of three key brands:
- Autowrappers (founded 1948)
- Europack (founded 1966)
- Bradman Lake (founded 1969)
Bradman Lake operates manufacturing plants, in Beccles, Suffolk, UK; Bristol, UK; and Rock Hill, SC, USA. In spring 2012, the Beccles facility completed a 14,000-square-foot expansion that increased the company’s capacity to manufacture machinery across multiple brand platforms side-by-side at the facility. The group also maintains offices in Moscow, Russia and Shanghai, China, and is in the process of expanding its operations into India.
“Bradman Lake’s success is influenced by our ability to serve a variety of markets utilizing its standard range of packaging machines to deliver tailor-made solutions,” says John Marlee, Group managing director. “This investment demonstrates our commitment in meeting the growing demands of the markets we serve.”
The group’s equipment can be found at the heart of packaging lines worldwide at companies of all sizes in key industry sectors including bakery & biscuit, chocolate & confectionery, dry foods and chilled and frozen foods.
The company’s core competencies hit on most major packaging operations including product handling and feeding systems, Automatic Distribution Systems (ADS), storage systems, flow wrapping, roll wrapping, shrink wrapping, loading, cartoning (top load and end load) and case packing (RSC or Wrap Around).
Its expertise, centering on food packaging, encompasses both rigid and flexible packaging formats, from the use of coextruded OPP films to carton board and various grades of corrugated board.
Integrated Packaging Technology
The Bradman Lake Group works with international technology partners to supply industry leading solutions to customers. In seeking a common design platform through Integrated Packaging Technology, universal mechanical and electrical standards have been adopted Group-wide. It is a strategic approach that the Bradman Lake Group initiated in 2004 across all brands and machines to bring consistency for customers across the globe.
Bradman Lake brings integration into its production facilities so that any of the company’s machine brands and models can be manufactured at any of the three sites. This approach combines a regional reach with manufacturing consistency anywhere in the world. Most important are the benefits Integrated Packaging Technology provides customers, including common parts, minimal spare parts inventory, ease of maintenance and commonality of engineering, human-machine interface screens and navigation as well as operator familiarity when running any of the company’s equipment.
The company’s shared research and development brings cutting-edge technologies to offer customers the benefit of placing a single contract with a partner capable of providing a turnkey system for project management from initial concept to site acceptance and beyond.
