“Good people drink good beer." That’s the message imprinted on every Griffin Claw Brewing Company can. Looking to expand its distribution and bring its unique brews to more craft beer lovers, the company has launched four of its core brands in Rexam (rexam.com) 16-ounce cans.

Norm’s Raggedy-Ass IPA, the company’s flagship brand, features a smooth, sweet body with enough malt to balance the huge hop profile of grapefruit and citrus flavors. It was awarded the Gold Medal in the World Beer Cup in 2010. Grand Trunk Pilsner is a crisp and clear Bohemian style pilsner made with true Nobel hops from the Czech Republic. El Rojo Red Ale has a strong malt character and just the right amount of hops to ensure great drinkability, while also delivering the desired bitterness reminiscent of many English style brown ales. Grind Line Pale Ale is an incredibly smooth and easy to drink American pale ale inspired by the automotive origins of Detroit’s hardworking people.

“Adding cans into our packaging mix is an excellent way for us to reach more customers and get our great-tasting craft beers in their hands,” says Dan Rogers, brewmaster, Griffin Claw Brewing Co. “Rexam has been a great partner in this process and we have been very pleased with the quality of all their products.”

Griffin Claw chose cans for its beers because of the many advantages they deliver. Cans are light weight, less expensive and help preserve beer’s freshness and integrity by providing complete protection from light and oxygen. They are durable and portable as cans are often allowed places where glass is not. And cans are the most sustainable beverage package in the world, recycled at more than double the rate of any other beverage package.

Rich Grimley, president and CEO, Rexam BCNA, says Griffin Claw’s packaging choice will help build their brand and their business. “Beverage cans provide many outstanding benefits for beer including colorful, reflective graphics that attract attention on store shelves, superior barrier protection and excellent filling, distribution and retail display economics. And cans are the best environmental choice with the highest recycle rate in the world. It all comes together to deliver outstanding value for the customer.”

Griffin Claw beers in cans are currently available at select retailers across Michigan, with capacity increasing daily.
