The Food Processing Suppliers Association (FPSA) today announced the launch of the 2015 Defeat Hunger℠ campaign which is scheduled to run from the spring of 2015 through the last day of PROCESS EXPO, September 18th at Chicago’s McCormick Place. The Defeat Hunger campaign was launched with a donation of $75,000 by the FPSA Foundation, and will include a wide variety of partners such as FPSA members, local food processors, PROCESS EXPO exhibitors and the Greater Chicago Food Depository with the goal of addressing food insecurity in Greater Cook County.

“The program in 2013 ultimately raised enough donations to provide over 240,000 meals to the people of Cook County,” said Scott Scriven, Chairman of the FPSA Foundation. “Our goal this year is to surpass 300,000 meals and to continue raising awareness of this critical issue in our own backyard. Given the interest shown by our many partners in this initiative, we feel that this goal is well within reach.”

“Once again FPSA, its Foundation and its members are committed to giving back to the community and making a positive impact on the lives of people in need. We look forward to the creative ideas and contributions that PROCESS EXPO exhibitors and partners will make in support of this campaign and help us to reach our goals,” said David Seckman, President and CEO of FPSA. “We are proud to once again partner with the Greater Chicago Food Depository, an organization that provides assistance to those in need.”

“We are happy to once again be working with FPSA and its members with the goal of strengthening our response to the 812,000 individuals who turn to our network for assistance,” said Kate Maehr, Executive Director and CEO of the Greater Chicago Food Depository. “Defeat Hunger provides food that is distributed by our member food pantries, soup kitchens and shelters to help approximately 1 in 6 of our neighbors in Cook County. We appreciate this support and thank FPSA members for helping to feed our community.”
